For those who have an accepted proposal, Beamtime survey for 2025A (Non-proprietary research proposal)

This guidance is for “Non-proprietary research proposal”. If you have “Proprietary research proposal”, please click here.

Common subject matter

  1. Shifts will be decided according to the rating of your proposal when it was reviewed.
  2. If there is unallocated beamtime(machine time) after the allocation of each period, there will be a call for additional beamtime(machine time). Please refer to the announcement.
  3. Please note that the proposal numbers of the proposals that were accepted in 2024B have been changed. The number can be checked at the UI siteUI site.
  4. Please note that the minimum allocation shifts for PX beamlines and BioSAXS have been changed from 2025A.

PX-Beamline (BL41XU, BL45XU, BL32XU, BL26B1)

The deadlines for the three periods of 2025A are as follows.
 1st period (10am April 8th to 10am June 9th): closed
 2nd period (10am June 10th to 10am July 28th): closed

Beamtime Schedule

  1. Automatic data collection (with or without a visit) can be used at BL45XU and BL32XU. Since international travel is currently very difficult, please consider using automatic data collection without a visit. Please note that from October 2020, the operation of BL45XU and BL32XU will be changed to be ready for the operation of the Uni-puck automatic exchange system.
  2. Requests for non-proprietary beamtime that cannot be allocated to BL45XU, may be allocated to BL41XU, taking into account the content of the experiment and its grade.
  3. Remote access can be used at BL41XU. Please contact the beamline staff for details » stbio (followed by @spring8.or.jp).
  4. You can send three requests with priorities. In each request, only one beamline can be selected from BL41XU, BL45XU, BL32XU, BL26B1.
  5. The shortest unit of beamtime is 0.5 shifts [4 hours] for BL32XU, BL41XU, and BL45XU and 1 shift [8 hours] for BL26B1.
  6. Date of measurement will be decided after arrangement.

CryoTEM

Please check here for the public use of CryoTEM.

The deadlines for the three periods of 2024B are as follows.
 1st period (10am April 7th to 10am June 9th): closed
 2nd period (10am June 10th to 10am July 30th): closed
Please refer to the following for a detailed beamtime Schedule

If you wish to use a beamline during the two periods, please fill “Survey_Sheet” and “Spec_Sheet” and upload them from the application page. If you have a photo of the sample with an electron microscope, please upload it. We will inform the principal investigator by email the username and password of the application page. If there are multiple assignments, please upload each.
The measurement date will be adjusted and notified after the number of shifts is determined.

The pre-use training course is required to use the CryoTEM either through the regular workshop or your own machine time. If you wish to have machine time before taking the course, please indicate so in the special notes.
